EPPO Codes Users Webinar

6^th webinar, 2025-12-08

The 6th webinar of the EPPO Codes Users was held on the 8th December 2025. It was attended by more than 280 participants and individuals from 61 countries, including 39 EPPO member countries, had registered. The webinar was organised by the EPPO Secretariat Information Services and IT teams to provide an overview of the EPPO Codes system, an explanation of how to use the EPPO online tools, a demonstration of the EPPO Data Portal and a question and answer session.

The first talk was given by EPPO Information Manager Muriel Suffert who provided an overview of what EPPO Codes are, general principles of EPPO Codes, how the coding system works, non-taxonomic codes for plant protection products and how to request new EPPO Codes and stay informed. The second talk was given by EPPO Scientific Officer Samuel Warner who gave a practical demonstration of how to use the online tools available in the EPPO Global Database for batch queries when users have extensive lists of pests or plants and they want to extract associated data within the Global Database easily. The final talk was given by EPPO IT Systems Manager Damien Griessinger who presented the EPPO Data Portal, the newly launched version of the API, a practical tour of the interface, and an overview of the logshipping process. During the webinar it was announced that version 2 of the API (API v2) has been released and is now available for use.
