Meeting of the Panel on General Standards on Efficacy Evaluation

EPPO Headquarters, Paris 2018-02-19/21

The EPPO Panel on General Standards on Efficacy Evaluation met at the EPPO Headquarters in Paris, on 2018-02-19/21. The Panel continued its work on the preparation of General Standards on efficacy evaluation.

New Standards

The meeting focussed on three proposals for new General Standards. Two of them were recommended for country consultation after some modifications are made taking into consideration the comments made at the meeting:

  • General principles for the development and registration of co-formulated mixtures of plant protection products;
  • Efficacy considerations and data generation when making changes to the chemical composition of plant protection products.

A proposal for a new General Standard on the efficacy evaluation of plant elicitors was considered at the meeting and it was decided that a specific Expert Working Group will need to be organized to finalize the draft Standard.

Dose expression of plant protection products in high growing crops

A draft Glossary of terms and a Guidance on how to measure crop parameters were studied by the Panel. These guidelines are the outputs of ad hoc Expert Working Groups established after the Workshop on harmonized dose expression for the zonal evaluation of plant protection products in high growing crops held in Vienna on 2016-10-18/20. With the modifications agreed at the meeting the Panel considered these documents finalized. They will be presented to the Working Party on Plant Protection Products for consideration and possible inclusion in the EPPO Standard PP 1/239 Dose expression for plant protection products.

The Panel on General Standards on Efficacy Evaluation will next meet in Milan (IT) at the kind invitation of the Lombardy Region on 2019-02-20/22.
