New Standards

The Panel discussed a new Standard on Weeds in Soybean and, with the amendments on the draft agreed at the meeting, it was considered ready for country consultation.
The Panel also finalized a new Standard for the Control of suckers in orchards to take into account a number of remarks made by the EPPO Working Party on Plant Protection Products (at its meeting in 2016).

General Standards of relevance to the Panel

The Panel improved the following two draft General Standards with details and examples for herbicides and plant growth regulators:

  • General principles for the development of co-formulated mixtures of PPP;
  • Efficacy considerations and data generation when making changes to the chemical composition of PPPs.

These two Standards are still under preparation and will be finalized by the EPPO Panel on General Standards on Efficacy Evaluation.

Zonal examples

A new zonal example ‘Clarification of efficacy data requirements for the authorization of a plant growth regulator in oilseed rape and turnip rape in the Northern European authorization zone’ has been prepared to assist applicants and evaluators to interpret EPPO Standard PP 1/278 Principles of zonal data production and evaluation. The Panel agreed on this new zonal example which will be presented to the Working Party on Plant Protection Products for approval before its publication on the EPPO Website.

The Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Herbicides and Plant Growth Regulators will next meet on 2018-03-12/14 in Brno (CZ) at the kind invitation of Úkzúz (the Central Institute for Supervising and Testing in Agriculture).
