Meeting of the Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of
Fungicides and Insecticides

The Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Fungicides and Insecticides met in Paris, at the EPPO Headquarters on 2016-11/22/24. The Panel continued its main task of developing Standards for conducting field trials to evaluate the efficacy of fungicides and insecticides.

 

New Standards

The following new Standards were discussed and considered ready to be sent for country consultation:

 

Standards on poppy pests:

  • Stenocarus fuliginosus (poppy root weevil)
  • Ceutorhynchus maculaalba and Dasineura papaveris

 

Standards on thrips:

  • Thrips on stone fruit and citrus
  • Thrips on table grapes

 

Standards on aphids:

  • Aphids on citrus trees
  • Aphids on fruiting vegetables of the Solanaceae and Cucurbitaceae families under protected and field cultivation

 

Standards on Ceratitis capitata:

  • Ceratitis capitata – bait application
  • Ceratitis capitata – foliar application

 

The Standard on Eutypa lata on grapevine was also finalized. Thanks are due to Mr Lecompte, researcher at INRA Bordeaux, who participated in the meeting to help finalize this Standard.


A new Standard on root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) in fruiting vegetables was studied by the Panel at the meeting and it was agreed that further expert input is needed before finalization.

 

 

Revision of Standards

The Panel discussed the revision of Standard PP 1/70 Aphid vectors of Barley yellow dwarf virus and with the modifications agreed the revised Standard was considered ready to be sent for country consultation.

 

 

EPPO Codes to describe PPP uses

Officials from European Commission (DG SANTE) joined the meeting by teleconference to update the Panel on the development of PPPAMS and discuss cooperation with EPPO for the development of a harmonized classification of codes to describe PPP uses.

The Panel on Efficacy Evaluation of Fungicides and Insecticides will next meet in Spain on 2017-11-28/30.
